Now a new study looking at 400,000 youths from 88 countries around the world suggests such bans are making a difference in reducing youth violence. It marks the first systematic assessment of whether an association exists between a ban on corporal punishment and the frequency in which adolescents get into fights.
[F]or both boys and girls, [prof. Elizabeth Gershoff] said, “We found [spanking] linked to more aggression, more delinquent behavior, more mental health problems, worse relationships with parents, and putting the children at higher risk for physical abuse from their parents.”
“People often ask: Why didn’t you look for positive aspects?” she continued. “My answer is: We did, and there were none. We see consistently that the more children are spanked, the more behavioral problems they have in the years ahead.”

Nah, cunt, I got slapped for hitting my cousins. When they hit me, got told to hit them back. We turned out fine. Giving your kid a thump upside the head for picking on someone smaller than them is the appropriate response.

And maybe, just maybe, calling women “cunts” and defending hitting children maybe shows that you aren’t as fine as you think.

I just don’t think there’s any cookie cutter way to parenting. What methods have worked in the long run that produced predictable and satiable results? I’ve witnessed physical and non-physical both succeed and fail. Some kids are just destined to become shitty people no matter what was done to deter them. Most internet users are a good example.

I think hitting your kids over their pamper when they’re being brats is fine. My niece is a horrible child because her parents won’t discipline her. Like at all. She hits her mother. I sorry but I can’t justify not hitting a kid on their diaper for that

Honestly, a lot of the shit that is being said are things I either already knew or suspected - them hating kl and lance stans, ruining their dynamic and lance’s development out of spite; the writers mess and how it was basically a college group project where no one involved actually talked to each other; keith is White….
But? For some reason? The one that caught me by surprise and that angers me the most?? Is how they threw away the show’s bible as soon as they could???
Because like, I don’t think you all know how important it is?? And how much work goes onto a show’s bible? Only for it to be discarded like that??
Dreamworks approved the show that was planned on the bible, not the mess we ended up getting. The fact that they allowed it to happen is pretty bad, but it happening at all is just?? Something I can’t process???
One thing would have been for like, some change of plans as the story progressed - not killing Shiro, for example, when it was stated on the bible he would die. But to ignore everything, throwing it all away - out of spite, nonetheless, is just uncalled for.
And I don’t even know why I am so surprised over it because it shows. The story is a mess and have no structure, and only gets worse with time. It’s just a bunch of plot pointsbeung thrown together and rarely ever reaching a conclusion.
It’s obvious that no one involved really knows where it’s all going to, with the same sense of direction as a child writing their first fanfiction.
I mourn the show Voltron was supposed to be. I’m sad we’ll never get the show Dreamworks actually greenlit years ago, and it angers me that all we got is the result of a pissy tantrum of two child executive producers who hate when things don’t go their way and can take no criticism.
Voltron should be remembered - not with any admiration nor nostalgia, but as a cautionary tale on how to not write a show.
